Our Stallions

About

Touchstone Farm was established in July 2007 as a modern boutique thoroughbred stud to cater for the upper end of the broodmare market. Our aim was to offer a choice of very good Australian and shuttle stallions so that local breeders and owners can pursue black type and international campaigns for their horses and compete with the stars of the world.

Western Australia has stood still over a number of seasons whereas most of Australia has moved forward at a fast pace in producing, buying and having shuttle stallions stationed at their studs. This lack of new blood has left WA with a list of stallions that have not been at the standard (with a very few exceptions) to compete at the higher levels. With the attractive prizemoney on offer in WA we now find more and more horses from the East Coast competing here and they are now taking back the substantial prize money and glory that goes with our Major races.

Stallions such as Scenic (now deceased), Danetime (now deceased) have really carried the flag for WA in recent years. We can clearly see that there is an opportunity not only to replace these stallions but also step up a gear. The owners of Touchstone all agree with this and are always looking at opportunities to upgrade the quality of stallions at our farm if and when the opportunity arises. This market never sleeps and we are aware of the challenges and competition that lies ahead.

In 2010 we are delighted to have added Danasinga and Shrewd Rhythm to our roster. It is rare to have the opportunity to stand such a highly credentialled and proven stallion such as Danasinga and it is a coup for our farm and the WA breeding industry.

Shrewd Rhythm is by the Champion sire Danehill Dancer.A leading juvenile, winning the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude and placing in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes he trained on at 3 taking out the stallion making Vain Stakes. We thank LIndsay Park Stud and Patinack Farm for what we feel is a tremendous opportunity for local breeders to access a world class bloodline.

The stallions standing at Touchstone Farm are not owned by the stud but by like minded stallion syndicates and owners who share our vision of excellence. Our joint aim is to stand stallions that we hope will fulfil our ambitions of helping local breeders produce horses that are both commercially viable and also capable of competing at the top level both nationally and internationally. We believe that our roster for 2010 will help us achieve this aim.
