All Brynica’s five matings to date have been with Glenlogan Park sires. Fifteen Carat, her first foal, has been followed by two colts by Bradbury’s Luck, 2007 and 2008, a filly by Jet Spur, 2009, and another service last year by Show a Heart.
In the Howard Wilson stables at the Gold Coast, Fifteen Carat is a very pleasing result for Ross Warnock, owner of the Flame Tree breeding farm near Scone, as he bred the first two dams, Brynica and Little Pattie. The latter won five races, including the Scone Dark Jewel Classic, and Listed placed twice in Sydney,
Also no doubt happy with Fifteen Carat’s emergence as another good performer by Show a Heart would be the McAlpines of the Eureka stud at Cambooya near Toowoomba. Using the prematurely deceased Star Kingdom line sire Brave Warrior, they bred and raised for a client Show a Heart, a leading Australian sprinter – 1600m performer.
In addition, they bred Little Pattie’s dam Palmyra Bay, a winner of races in Brisbane and Sydney, runner up in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup and third in the Group1 Fourex Cup at Doomben.
As Palmyra Bay is by Eureka stud’s now deceased outstanding winner getter Semipalatinsk, Fifteen Carat is inbred to Star Kingdom. Bred in America, Semipalatinsk was by their two times champion handicap performer Nodouble, a son of the exported Australian Noholme.
Like his celebrated brother Todman, Noholme was a Star Kingdom champion bred on Baramul stud, Widden Valley for Stanley Wootton.
Fifteen Carat is one of 105 winners of 175 races (161 in Australia) and $4.7million supplied by Show a Heart for 2009-10 through to July 25. On the mare side, he is one of 160 winners of 259 races and $9.8million during the year from daughters of Snippets.
The star of the year from the Snippets mares was Crystal Lily (pictured) , a filly who emulated her sire, the Widden stud based Redoute’s Choice sire Stratum, and took out the Golden Slipper.
All told the Snippets mares, the youngest of which are seven, have comprised to date1092 foals, 883 starters, 580 winners (48 SWs, 28 SPs) of 1780 races and $47.3million.They have produced major winners for a wide spectrum of sires, including Redoute’s Choice, Flying Spur, Zabeel, Fastnet Rock, Dane Shadow, Belong to Me, Timber Country, Royal Academy, Strategic, Exceed and Excel, O’Reilly, Charge Forward and Timber Country.
Rapidly running out of his own contestants, the January 2002 deceased Snippets himself supplied 826 foals,738 starters, 599 winners (58 SWs, 45 SPs) of 2,292 races (130 stakes) and $75.9million. His success as a sire of winners and dams of winners makes him one of the stand out Australian sire of modern times. - Brian Russell Media
